I don't generally go to zoos but I was there with a big group of children so it seemed appropriate. As zoos go, this one was pretty good - very clean and humane looking. The cages were big and the animals were all active and healthy looking.
The botanical gardens are also nice - wide variety of plants and flowers native to the area and also from the rest of Europe.
They are easy to get to on public transportation, and the staff was very helpful when we got there (despite the language barrier...)
Don't go when it's too hot - hard to keep your energy up!Recommended for:

I didn't mean to go to the zoo but I ended up there anyway.., Being unable to understand any of the Hungarian signs, I had my swimming costume and towel in my bag and was headed for the Szechenyi Baths. I assumed I was paying the entrance fee for the bath when i was actually paying to get into the zoo.
No matter though, it was a scorching hot day and I was over the moon to find that the zoo has water sprinklers thoughout the park to cool everyone down in the searing hot summer heat.
