Buffalo, New York is a great part of the state to visit, especially in the summer months when the snow has thawed. There are tons of outdoor festivals, tours of the Frank Lloyd Wright homes in town, the Albright Knox Art Museum, a nice waterfront area, a small zoo, and of course, the chicken wings (The Anchor Bar is the classic but Duffs is pretty good too.). If you just want to poke around and people watch, head to Elmwood Street, which has a bunch of little shops, eateries, and green spaces.

Went up a few times to visit friends attending the university. Great space for partying, but that's about it. Pretty dead all the way around.

I had been traveling to Buffalo for many years before I started to explore it. It's not a big deal now, but this city has centuries of history behind it and lots of architecture to explore. It's waterfront and access to the Erie Canal made it an economic powerhouse. Grover Cleveland, a former mayor, became president of the US, and President McKinley was shot and later died here. There is a of public green space.
Be careful exploring though. You can get yourself into trouble in some neighborhoods if you don't know what you are doing.

Yes, maybe the weather in the winter is not great but otherwise this is a great place to visit. The city has a great diversity and some great places to eat because of it. Next to Canada and Lake Erie are more reasons to stop.

I was surprised at how dismal and old the city looked. The City seemed to be in problems. I guess the recession hit here hard. There were so many store fronts closed. The city was not well maintained. Restaurants were few and many the GPS directed me too were closed. The tourist sites were well maintained and so to the Hotel but the city as a whole was bad.
