Every time I'm in Portland I make sure I go to Burgerville, but usually the one by the convention center. I've been to others in Portland, including this one, and they are comparable. It's fresh beef with local Tillamook cheese. The milkshakes are the real thing and thick, and, if marionberries are in season, you can try the local treat.

Often times, my son comes back from Portland with "restaurant " recommendations. So far, he has highlighted Voodoo Doughnuts (check), the Fat City Cafe (soon), and Burgerville (It's Organic!). I don't know about that, but the Burgerville slogan does say "Fresh - Local - Sustainable". And that it is.
Several previous reviewers have debated comparisons to "In-N-Out". I personally think we're talking apples and oranges.
I really like Burgerville. We stopped here one afternoon after a long day of visiting various Portland-area schools. This is not fine dining, but it's fast food that's a cut above. My Tillamook Cheeseburger, fries, and hazelnut chocolate shake (with real ice cream) were all delicious. Gayle also had a salmon salad which was also very good.
