The best thing about Aliñahui is the cliff overlook, along with the lookout platform and dining area that take advantage of it. This is one of the most beautifully scenic spots in the Tena/Misahualli region and a good enough reason as any to choose "The Butterfly Lodge" as your place to stay. On the downside, the grounds are a little too manicured for my taste. It's supposed to be a jungle eco-lodge, but there is a little bit of golf course feel here. The cabins are so so, adequate and standard for the area. The food, as I recall, is fantastic and I already mentioned the dining area has an amazing setting. Another interesting aspect about Aliñahui is the very long, straight avenue that serves as the entrance driveway. It cuts directly through a near monoculture of reforested, secondary growth that feels like a tree plantation. It's actually a bit stately and gives one the feel that they've arrived somewhere special and luxurious, which isn't totally the case. Take a walk down this avenue and cut to the right on the main road and you'll arrive at "The Laboratory", the area's notoriously fun jungle bar. But stay too long there and you might not find your way back...
