NIce cafe, bar, bistro in the French Quarter (yes that's what I call that quarter block between Grant and Kearny on Bush) of San Francisco. Mid afternoon hangout over a cup of their yummy Cafe de la Presse is quite civilized and relaxing.

I came here for a blind date and had a white wine. The wine was good, and the rest of the menu was fairly priced for San Francisco. It's located right next to the Chinatown gate.

Standing on the corner where "Little Paris" of San Francisco meets Chinatown and next to the hip Hotel Triton, Cafe De La Presse is the place to go if you're craving something French but can't afford the exchange rate.

There's not much variation in the menu, but they do it right...brunch, burgers, steaks, pommes frittes. The international news stand at the front adds to the cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Came here for dinner and thought the food was pretty average and expensive for the quality of what was served. I did enjoy the French onion soup and the glass of Sauvignon blanc, the mains were average compared to other French restaurant I've had around the world. One male waiter was lovely and cheerful, the others average service. Hopefully their breakfasts are better.

popular french cafe which is situated near the shops of union square. the french onion soup is good. croque monsieur is tasty also. the burger and fries are average fare. the last 2 times i've been though, the service has been poor. the burger took almost 45 min to come out. they didn't refill the water. had to ask twice for a check. i prob won't be coming back.

If you already stuffed yourself with all you can eat dim sum or just seen too many pork buns, across the gates of chinatown stands Cafe De La Presse, a French Cafe/Restaurant. Whether you want to warm up with a bowl of french onion soup or a bowl of cafe au lait, or scarf down a juicy confit du canard, the Cafe offers a vibrant atmosphere whose soundtrack is a mix of bad eighties french songs and the clinking and clanging of spoons and tea cups. Frankly I prefer the latter; reminiscent of the true Parisian brasseries like Les Deux Magots (which I used to erroneously think meant 'The Two Maggots' though the actual translation makes even less sense). The one thing that differs from the Parisian places is the service, which is much better at the cafe. Unless you happen to have a rude Russian Israeli girl in bright red lipstick take your order, in that case, you're screwed, nice to meet you, ice water and bread, on me, nothing less than a twenty percent tip, on you.
