The best espresso in all of new york city; it's worth the wait. Sit at a table outside and drink the best espresso in the NYC. Its served with a bearfoot print chocolate. They have a shrine to Jimmy Hendrix on the wall.Recommended for:Foodies

This is my absolute favourite cafe in New York City for breakfast or lunch. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The last time I ate here, Jake Gyllenhaal was dining at the next table. It's a great local spot and close to loads of designer boutiques in the East Village if you want to go shopping.

I suppose Café Gitane is a classic, but I didn't think the place was really worth the hassle and prices. Selling straight Campari for an eye-watering $9 just seems a bit much. I didn't mind waiting for a table, and my salad was quite good, but the service was not particularly hospitable—I opened my laptop to show my dining companion a photo and was briskly informed that computers are not allowed at lunchtime. That encounter, unfortunately, left a bad tinge on the whole experience.

My favorite café in Nolita! I loved it for breakfast but also for tea in the middle of the afternoon. The interior is cozy and the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is calm and food is delicious. There is also a pair of tables outside, great!

Great little Nolita spot with a few outdoor seats. Cafe Gitane serves up good French / Moroccan influenced food and is one of the better people watching spots in the neighborhood. The perfect spot for soup, salad, and eye candy.
