    St. Stephen's Green

    0.58 mi from Cafe Java
    48 reviews

Seriously, this is the most beautiful place I visited during my short time in Dublin. Everything has its place and the park is well thought out. The colors in this park are mesmerizing. Sometimes, there is a man who comes and talks to the ducks.

How I wish I went to school here. Open spaces, tons of history, and right in the center of the city with access to the Luas. Didn't get a chance to go see The Book Of Kells (line was super long!) but just the atmosphere of the school was so nice to be in.

Great shopping street with many names not found in the US. Also home of several reputable cell phone stores should you need a temporary, prepaid SIM card to use a mobile while in Ireland.

The Book of Kells was the four Gospels of the New Testament as well as some other texts. It has decoration that combines traditional Christian iconography with the ornate swirling motifs typical of Insular art. I found it very interesting and I learned a lot.

Most Dubliners don't know about this public park. It's about five minutes from the beautiful but crowded St. Stephen's Green. On a warm day you'll see people sunbathing and eating lunch on the grass. The last time I was there I noticed that some people will nod knowingly at you, a gesture of the sort you'd expect to see from ...

A statue of Oscar Wilde at Merrion Square park. No visit is complete to Dublin without a visit to Oscar's old neighbourhood. It's quite close to Government Buildings (Leinster House) and is a nice escape from the traffic.

Lots of high street names and a few independents. A handy place at the top of Grafton Street in which to shop or snack if it is raining outside. There is a very good ice cream place without seating downstairs at the back of the building and multistorey car parking on site.

Old school Dublin pub. I loved the atmosphere. A nice place to rest, have a pint, and recharge for further activities. It's conveniently on a side street right off Grafton Street shopping.

A perfect place for a long walk in Dublin. Start in the Docklands on foot or bike and follow the path along the canal all the way around the south side of the city. You can go on for miles (far beyond the city, in fact) so be sure to plan your route beforehand. The canal isn't used much any ...

I went to search out this bar as it figured prominently in Rosie Shaap's book "Drinking with Men." We were so glad to find this pub. As you can imagine Temple Bar in Dublin is PACKED with pubs. You will NOT find a lavish interior, or traditional music, or any scrumptious food here. What you will find is a pub ...

This is a classic Dublin boozer with a hell of a lot of history and character (which it has managed to keep along with it’s charm for years). It’s got a distinctive Victorian exterior and the inside looks pretty much the same as it did fifty years ago. With an old school styled bar, tables and chairs all dimly lit ...
