Great accommodations for the price. It was just me and my wife, but our room had three beds - perfect for a larger group. The rooms are mostly designed in concrete, including the bed frames. But it's a cool design and perfect for cleanup after a sandy day at the beach. The balcony is a great place to chill and read a book or have drinks with friends while watching the local kids play football in the streets, or catch a nice sunset.
The restaurant has fantastic Peruvian food but has odd hours. And I hate to say it, but there is a bit of a "too cool" vibe by the main chef ( I believe it was - a surfer from Peru), and the owners - also surfers from Peru. There are surf videos playing in the restaurant and surf paraphernalia, which is a fun vibe. But there was just a sense of not feeling very welcome there. But this feeling was not enough to recommend against staying or eating there.
The walk to the beach from Cafe Playa Negra is no less than 10 minutes (regardless of what their website says), and may even take longer. It's not a bad walk, but it's a bit dusty and hot during the dry season. You can rent bikes or ATV's to explore the area further or check out Playa Avellana just up the road.Recommended for:Family Travelers
