    San Elijo State Beach Campground

    San Elijo State Beach Campground

    2 reviews

I LOVED camping here with friends. Walk down a set of stairs and you're on the beach. The views are phenomenal and there are showers. The morning walks and sunrises are, "epic," definitely look for dolphins!

    Kirby Cove Campground

    Kirby Cove Campground

    5 reviews

One of the most amazing campgrounds ever - with great views of the city. There are only 4 spots here - tucked in a lush green valley, lined with cyprus trees and wild flowers and a path that leads down to a private beach overlooking San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. You need to book well in advance if ...

    Hostelling International

    Hostelling International

    2 reviews

The hostel is literally a giant old victorian house with pretty much the same interior from when it was built. The wrap-around porch is the best place to curl up with a book, or meet fellow travelers in the warm California nights. Plus, this place is right around the corner from a fantastic coffee shop, Pyramid Brewery, and downtown Sacramento.

I went to Ojai with my girlfriends for a celebratory weekend getaway from LA. It was a nice hotel though a little on the quiet side for us. The rooms are nice and clean.

    Ragged Point Inn

    Ragged Point Inn

    3 reviews
Very Good! - 82% of guests recommend

Great accommodations at the Southern part of "Big Sur" on Hwy 1. Nice rooms overlooking the water from on top of a cliff as well as a trail that takes you all the way down to the water. It's pretty steep so be careful if you decide to go down there. There's also a restaurant and a gas station.

    Adelaide Hostel

    Adelaide Hostel

    3 reviews
Good! - 75% of guests recommend

I love hostels, especially the nice ones. I stayed here prior to moving to San Francisco when I needed to be in the city early in the morning for a race, and the trains weren't running. I had the best time here exploring the hostel and made a few international friends along the way. Highly recommended for those on a ...

Nice lodge close to the west gate of the park. The rooms are spacious and clean and they have a nice restaurant and outdoor pool that is open as late as 10 PM. We took a family room that has 2 bedrooms, one king size bed and two twin beds, a living room and one bathroom. The rooms are equipped ...

    Black Rock Campground

    Black Rock Campground

    2 reviews

When all of the first-come, first-served campgrounds by the giant boulders inside the park are full, this is our fall-back camping spot inside Joshua Tree National Park. You can reserve ahead online, which is absolutely essential on weekends and every day during the spring wildflower bloom. It's a huge campground, often filled with a lot of RVs and school groups. ...

    Hotel des Arts

Good! - 75% of guests recommend

It's been years since I had the need to stay at a hotel in SF, but before I moved here I visited the City and stayed at Hotel des Arts. It's definitely for younger, hipper travelers. The rooms are all painted differently by artists, and I had a room with pink graffiti all over the walls. The bathroom was shared, ...

    Hilton Garden Inn Montebello

It's actually a very nice hotel, the location is not the best. But it's close to Monterey park and San Gabriel, where all the good Chinese restaurant located. And it has a golf course next the hotel, it's quiet and comfortable. Front desk people are very friendly, too. They offer free parking and free wifi which are very nice for ...

    Figueroa Hotel

    Figueroa Hotel

    Class:
    11 reviews
Fair - 71% of guests recommend

I never stayed in the hotel itself. I would only go to the bar. With Moroccan-themed decor, a coffin-shaped outdoor pool, and provocative supperclub beds, Hotel Figueroa's exotic Veranda Bar used to be my go-to spot for after-dinner drinks with a large group of friends. I liked how there were no cover charges to get into the bar and pool ...

Doesn't look attractive from the outside but it's a pretty good hotel. My room faced the beach and it was pretty clean. Nothing extravagant but the location is amazing. Prices are reasonable too.

    Summerdale Campground

    Summerdale Campground

    2 reviews

I'm teetering between a 2 star review or a 3 star review here. On the one hand, this campground is beautiful, private, and gives you that right amount of seclusion that you need. There's a creek and waterfall in the campground itself. They have drinkable water here as well near the restrooms. They also have dumpsters throughout the campground, so ...

    The Village at Mammoth

    The Village at Mammoth

The single most kitschy mall in Mammoth. Granted there are not a lot of them, but this does have some good points too. However parking here is at an absolute premium, seriously there is barely any at all. There is one lot across the street for a buck or two during the winter and if you are at the condo’s ...

I happened to have a friend staying here while I was in town. I convinced him to smuggle me in to have a look. I can honestly say that I am not a lover of hostels (an understatement) but was pleasantly surprised at the amenities offered. From free WiFi, breakfast and linens. I was also surprised at the cleanliness of ...

    StayON Beverly Luxury Hostel

I booked this hostel for a colleague’s son from England and went to check it out while he was there. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that though I initially thought it was for backpacking kids on a budget, I would also be just as happy staying here—especially for $50 per night! The cute little rooms are very clean, with ...
