One of the highlights of the California Science Center is the Space Shuttle Endeavor, a must-see for science buffs of all ages. Be sure to plan a whole afternoon here so you and the family have plenty of time to check out all of the exciting permanent exhibits.

I finally got to see the famous Endeavor! I was in all when I entered the room.
The place was crowded but it wasn't that bad. I think it's an amazing place to take your kids and teach them about nature, science, etc. A great place for kids to be motivated and be educated.
Thank you gogobot for taking me here with their gogobus!!!!

This is a MUST see. The museum is the home of the space shuttle the Endeavour among other wonderful exhibitions. It is next to the USC campus and the Los Angeles Coliseum where the 1984 Olympic games were held for the second time.

Approximately 25-30 minutes depending on traffic.

It doesn't compare to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry but with the addition of spaceship Endeavor the comparison is no longer embarrassing. Other exhibits have been added and improved. The Science Center is definitely on an upward swing. A great place to take kids where adults won't get bored.

Of course the best part of the CA Science Center is to see the Endeavour shuttle in person. Admission to the center is completely free, but reserve a time slot to see the Endeavour online to avoid long waits (it costs just a few dollars to reserve). To see the space shuttle up close is so cool. They are working on creating a new exhibit so you can see the space shuttle at difference levels as it sits vertically. There are also quite a few IMAX movies related to space and nature that you can check out for a fee. The movie I saw was much older so it wasn't as clear as movies are these days, but it was still impressive to see what astronauts see in space. The rest of the center has some smaller exhibits that are fun for kids as they are interactive. However, most of them are old and don't work extremely well (if they work at all), and don't provide any explanation on what you force or action you are imitating in nature.

It was an incredible experience. Being just so close to this aircraft was amazing! I have come to the California Science Center before but never have I actually checked out the Endeavour! The name actually was named by children who had chosen such a name that they believed would be appropriate for such a journey. If you ever do come check out the museum, try to see the Endeavour too! Besides this special exhibit, there are also so many amazing wonders to look at and walk through within the entire museum. I think one of my favorite parts of this museum is the ecosystem area. It has a lot of fun filled facts and it really gets interesting when you check out how different parts of the world inhabit the most unique forms of weather and landscape. Last but not least, the entrance to this museum is beautiful! I love the decorative designs that hover the entrance as if welcoming the people with a sort of wonderland look

This was a really cool museum! First of all, it's on a donation basis so you can get in free. There were tons of cool hands-on exhibits. I especially liked the infrared screen. The reason I didn't give this four stars was that it was just packed with small children. Don't get me wrong, I like kids, but I couldn't do a lot of the stuff because it was occupied.

This is a great place to take the kids. They have a blast you actually learn a little something too. There are lots of hands on exhibits. There is also a couple of fast food restaurants if you get hungry because you can spend all day there easily.

So you wanna do something for nothing eh? Wanna be entertained? or better yet have your munchkin entertained? Not have to wait for ride lines, interact with jackwagons? see some truly awesome artifacts? and waste a half a day with your kids or date running you round and round in circles? well get your sorry azz ovah hea!

Pro Tip #1: Parking is $10, but entrance is FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

The munchkin loved it... i was kinda ehh... but we still are ending up back here regularly. I have been here 3 times in the last 4 months I think! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So this Science Museum is different than the ones I have been to in Chicago and at the Smithsonian. It is a Kids Science Museum! yes this is both good and bad. It has a lot of kewl information, especially for the young ones. There are some things that stand out to me even with its being a primarily kids oriented joint:

    * They have multiple space capsules (apollo, soyouz, etc)
    * They have a charge for deal to see the space shuttle Endeavor
    * They have a couple of fighter trainer aircraft, a biplane, and this is NOT an Air & Space museum even if they have a YF12A outside...
    * They have a lot of how things work videos/interactive displays that kids gobble up. my daughter couldnt stop hitting buttons all day
    * Great lift/drag wind displays, go here if its super hot and you need to cool down
    * Earthquake ride ehhhh sampling area =P
    * Several pay for rides/displays as well. The Endeavor was the most well known of those ones...
    * A giant swag shop
    * The big M supper club also has space on the ground floor...

So overall they have a bunch going on, but it is much more child oriented which is great for parents, and most parents love seeing their kids learn... or they should and if they dont they are EVIL parents hahaha yeah I said it E-V-I-L!

Pro Tip #2: You can visit this museum and the natural history museum without moving parking lots and they are right next to each other... I almost ran into another parent with their kids here that I know as well... but that is tough since its a huge place... I hope you enjoy your trek here!

ohhh well, why havent you left yet?

It's really nice if you are into the sciences, especially for kids, even at a very young age. We were there when the kid was about a year and a half, he enjoyed it thoroughly. And it's free!

I came mainly to see Endeavor. The museum had a great setup for the shuttle itself even though they have to wind you through the museum somewhat oddly to get there. I loved it though. Otherwise they have a great setup and if you're looking to entertain kids or just have an enjoyable afternoon of Science - this is place.

This is literally the best place to get kids excited and learn that theres more to science than beakers and test tubes. Here it is filled with fun and interactive displays, that highlight the common principles of science in a way that no classroom can do! I love this place sooo much! especially when they had the star wars exibit! Any place that highlights star wars, is golden in my book!

This is the best place to take children in LA. I used to take my children here 25 years ago and they loved it more than Disneyland. There was always so much to see and do. I didn't pay years ago but you may have to now in this economy, but even if you do it is well worth it!

I admit I have never been crazy about Space or Science.
That was until I went to this museum. It had all kinds of really great Air Force planes hanging from the ceiling. The Space Shuttle Endeavour goes on display October 30th and right now entry is free.
