The Cambodian capital is one of Mainland SE Asia's most overlooked (and most enjoyable!) spots. With an incredible dining scene, a beautiful waterfront, great markets, cool sights, and some hella friendly people, it was one of the most pleasant surprises on my tour thru the Southeast Asia circuit. It's a shame that Phnom Penh is a name synonymous with the ...

Siem Reap is one of my favorite places on the planet. The city itself has its problems but it is hard not to fall in love with the temples of Angkor. Although the numbers of tourists have increased dramatically, it is still possible to feel a bit like Indiana Jones here.

Head to the nearby Bamboo Island or Koh Kiev if you want seclusion.

A fantastic place. The temple complex is huge and full of things to see. I recommend reserving at least three days to vist them all. Also, don't forget to get up early so you can enjoy the sunrise on these locations. Well worth it.

This was a very interesting place. I saw parts of the town and it resembled one of these towns that has stopped development.. that being said, i think its worth a visit. Check out the bat cave!

It’s an average afternoon in Kep, which means down by the waterfront, fisherman are busy collecting the day’s catch. Mostly, crab — for which Kep is renowned. But there’s a spectrum of seafood to be seen: prawns, squid, octopus, and a variety of fish. The Kep crab market is run mostly by woman, who wade out in the shallow shores ...

Poipet is to Cambodia what Aranyaprathet is to Thailand - a border town with a steady stream of tourists crossing the Thai-Cambodian border to get to Siem Reap (usually from Bangkok) or to go back to Thailand. There are more touts in Poipet than in Aranyaprathet. Ignore them no matter how friendly they seem. There is a government bus just ...

Kampot has the feeling of being once-mighty, yet up-and-coming at the same time. Not really on the way to anywhere, it is slow paced, relaxing, and pretty. I recommend renting a motorbike and exploring the countryside!

This stunning temple complex is in miniature vs. many of the other sights in Angkor but the detail on the bas reliefs here is the best you'll see in Cambodia. An absolute must-see for anyone who visits Angkor.

I don't think I've ever been to an island with fewer people living on it. It was pretty amazing! Koh Rong is about a two hour ferry ride from Sihanoukville and an awesome place to check out for a couple of days. Not the best diving, but not bad for a dive or two. If you're planning to go, stay ...

Bavet is a border town along the Cambodia/Vietnam border. It's a convenient place to head to by bus from Ho Chi Minh City for Asian travelers who just need to leave and reenter Vietnam to extend their visas. The closest town in Vietnam, Moc Bai, is a good hike from the border, so you'll need to catch a ride from ...
