With weekly rates at $300 and nightly at $70 (that's what the owner told me) this feels more like transitional housing than a tourist hotel. It was full when I was there, and I doubt guests were there just to visit the Grotto across the street; it seemed more like they were living there. There is good food around here, though, Vietnamese, doughnuts, and Mexican and... and you would be closer in to Portland than other airport hotels, but my gut says that you're probably not on vacation if you're staying at the Cameo Motel, you're more likely trying to sort out your living situation while staying somewhere with a low weekly rate. If you want to be in this area, the hotels on Sandy might be a better choice.Recommended for:

Located at the intersection of NE 82nd and Sandy, the Cameo is a budget motel that has little to offer and reflects this busy “difficult” neighborhood. The main advantages it has are its position across the street from a Catholic sanctuary, the Grotto. It is also within easy reach of Portland airport, the Max light rail system, and the rest of Portland.
This is a cheap, basic drive-in motel with little charm, the exception being the front desk staff who are very friendly and courteous.
The rooms and bathrooms are clean and well used. The amenities include free parking and wifi.
If you are looking for a place to stay for the night this property, at minimal cost, is a good deal. However, the motel does offer discounted weekly rates for those wanting a base to explore Portland. As with most hotels, you get what you pay for; the Cameo is no exception.

The Cameo is certainly not a luxury property and its location on the corner of NE 82nd and Sandy is a bit icky, but the staff of this family-run property are sweet and it's convenient for visiting the Grotto (a wooded Catholic sanctuary dedicated to Mother Mary), which is just across the street. It's also not far from the airport. Weekly rates are available and rooms are cheap and clean. Again, the area is not great but it's on public transport and about 10 blocks from a Safeway. There's also an excellent all-you-can-eat Indian buffet nearby and a little "greasy-spoon" (as they would call it in England) breakfast diner (also called the Cameo) adjacent to the motel.Recommended for:
