As with many towns in the area a visitor shouldn't look for any one point of interest but should look to the totality of the experience. Cannero provides such a total experience. It has many fine restaurants, galleries and hotels (many of which are more conversant in German than in English). Most of all however, it is picturesque, whether viewed from its 19th century harbor, its central district or its hidden hillside parks, rivers and outlying homes.

Cannero Riviera doesn't always show up on searches but this village on the northern end of Lake Maggiore is well worth searching out. Tiny so easy to get around yet very picturesque with soaring mountains nearby, and the beautiful lake with ruined castles to look at.
