Cannes has two claims to fame. First and most obviously, the Cannes Film Festival. However, for the rest of the year the main reason to drop in on Cannes is the white sand beaches. Many other beaches on the Riviera are composed of pebbles or, like Nice, big rocks that will hurt your feet.Recommended for:

One of the global capitals for international jet set trash, but don't let that put you off visiting a city with many other charms - you just may choose to get the best out of it when the platinum blondes and holidaying oligarchs are elsewhere. For all the bling of Cannes, there's also a charming underbelly to the city - for me this is Le Suquet, the old town, with its winding cobbled streets and informal places to eat. The palace hotels along La Croisette are always worth a visit too. Depending on your sensibility, you'll be appalled, amused or both.

If you are lucky enough to attend the film festival it is an experience you will never forget.
La Croisette is something to be experienced but be prepared to spend some serious cash during this period. You will also need to book restaurants well in advance or go hungry.

Sta reci Kanu..divan,divan grad. Odsela sam bila u starom delu Kana koji je zaista prelep. Vrlo skup grad, ali vredi potrositi svaku paru kako biste otisli i videli Azurnu obalu i to plavetnilo mora!

I loved the short time that we spent in Cannes.. So much history in this town and I got to stand on the steps where the "Stars" stand when they walk the red carpet.. I have a picture of me standing there.. I also fed pidgins outside of the old hotel in the picture they show here. I have to say that my favorite part of every stop we made was sitting in the cafes eating a pastry with a hot chocolate... I know it should be coffee or expresso.. but I've never acquired a taste for those.

There is nothing like the boardwalk, also known as "la Croisette", of France's most relaxing and romantic getaway spot. If you stroll down the silky beach, you may come across Plage L'Ondine. This restaurant is a hidden gem and a favorite lunch spot among the locals. In the evening, check out the "Old City", but make sure your wife doesn't wear heels -- since its on a brick paved hill. Here you will find a row of romantic French restaurants and shops!

Cannes is a very beautiful spot with very friendly people. It's a town where you can walk the town with no problems, no need for a car. It's obviously a place where the wealthy go to play and you can enjoy viewing the awesome sail boats and yaht's in the harbor. We walked the town, then decided to take the train to Nice. The residents helped us found the train station and we enjoyed the short jaunt to Nice. In Nice, the beach was beautiful but some beautiful and not so beautiful women were sunbathing w/o their tops. It was an experience for my teenagers to see! Both cities HIGHLY Recommended.
