    Cano Negro is Costa Rica's answer for Everglades National Park (USA) or Brazil's Pantanal. The massive wetland spans the border with Nicaragua and remains in very good condition. It is home to thousands of species, including caiman, basilisk lizards (aka Jesus Christ Lizard) and howler monkeys. It is fairly remote and difficult to get to, but that helps preserve the areas natural beauty.
