The famous locale of Chaucer's tales, this charming, lovely city is home not only to the gorgeous Canterbury Cathedral, but lots of restaurants, pubs, and shops lining quaintly cobbled streets. Spring for a themed tour, or simply amble your way throughout the old town for a pleasant afternoon.

Canterbury is an easy daytrip from London. An hour ride on the high speed train and you arrive in the small town full of historic interest, particularly, the Cathedral.Recommended for

As a world heritage site and a place for pilgrimage for centuries I found this a fascinating place to explore. Winding medieval streets with a range of buildings from gothic to tudor being most prominent. We enjoyed a boat ride/tour as well as spending a few hours at the cathedral and other historical sites. Loved it, wished we had more time to see everything.
