The very end of Africa, this rocky peninsula-on-a-peninsula at the far southern edge of Cape Town is a starkly beautiful and surprisingly untouched natural landscape. You might see ostriches or humpback whales here, in season, but the rugged, rocky coastline is beautiful any time of year.

The pictures say it all! Unforgettable scenery that is even more spectacular if you go up the trail from the parking area.

This was simply awesome. The two oceans meeting is one of the wonders of the world, and the scenery is spectacular. Watch out for the baboons, but enjoy an unforgettable day out.

The Castle of Good Hope is an old Dutch East India fort in the middle of the city. It's built in the star design with a moat around it. It's something to see if you're a history buff or a fort geek.

Known as "The Castle" among locals, this old fort was built by the Dutch in the late 17th century by profiteers of the Dutch East India Company as a respite and replenishing place for sailors on their way to and from India.

It costs about 30 Rand, maybe $5 bucks or so, and will take you a few hours to see the lot of it. If you're into dungeons and prisons, canons and forts, it's worth the inexpensive fee to get in. It's one of those places that is in the top 50 activities but not for someone limited in time.

Like any Cape Town historical venue, this unique space is rented out for awesome parties, so be on the look out on how to experience this place the way most Capetonians do, while drinking wine.

The Cape of Good Hope is the, disputed, most southerly point of Africa. Here you can go to Cape Point and climb up to the lighthouse or explore the more low lying areas. The Cape of Good Hope is home to a unique range of wildlife which you often encounter as you walk around. Particulary the baboons, who are used to visitors and so not shy about grabbing your food if you let them. We also saw an ostrich by the edge of the sea, near the Cape of Good Hope sign, which made for some interesting photographs.

Another gorgeous place to visit in South Africa. Make sure you drive through the reserve forest to get there, there are baboons on the road! but be careful as to not roll down your windows or get out of your car, they may attack you! Also it's extremely windy, so hold on to your hats and consider wearing shorts if you are a lady. When you first drive in, go to the visitor's center, there's a good bathroom there. After breakfast, visiting Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point will pretty much take the whole day.

Description

Sometimes given the erroneous title of the most southern point in Africa, this southwesterly-most point is impressive nonetheless. Not far from Cape Point and within the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, this spot has impressive scenery and wildlife to boot.
