DC based brewery with Great Kolsch beer, a large U shaped bar with attentive bartenders, and incredible happy hour prices on appetizers like hummus and pita bread plate that includes fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, olives and carrots. Relaxed atmosphere with cyclists and runners sharing the bar with people just off work. Located near Metro Center stop and about a mile from the Mall. Fun, and free hot pretzels with a spicy, wonderful mustard to boot!

About:Capitol City Brewing Co. opened its doors in 1992 as the first brew pub in our nation's capitol since prohibition, thus giving its citizens and its many visitors the freedom to enjoy some of the finest hand-crafted beer in the country. On the front of our menu is the symbol of freedom, the Lady Liberty, a statue found atop our namesake, the United States Capitol. Nestled in the heart of Washington's rejuvenated downtown, this location has become a local landmark for celebrating great beer and food with family and friends. We have always taken great pride in our beer so come in and enjoy a cold pint of our very best and match it to one of the many menu selections tailored to the brews we serve.Recommended for:

My parents took my boyfriend and I here. They enjoyed the beer, and I got their chili which is good, but not as spicy as I expected since it claimed to have jalapenos in it. The horseradish mustard that comes with the pretzels that every table gets was really good, but I found out it'll make your nose feel like it's burning if you eat too much. I also tasted the BBQ chicken salad which was quite nice. I don't know if I would come here on my own unless it was for happy hour specials.
