as I've said it before, i firmly believe the overall yelp ratings for restaurants are pretty darn accurate! i give this place a solid 4 stars. the service was great, there seemed to be almost one server for every table. the highlight of dinner was seeing luke wilson sitting at the bar! celebrity sighting win!
of course, i had to try to white corn ravioli with truffles (they really do not skimp on truffles) which was great, but even better with a little extra salt on top. i requested salt, and they gave me a sea salt grinder... classy! the octopus special, which is HUGE by the way, was super tender. it's cooked on their open flame oven, which made it almost borderline too smokey for my taste. but i still appreciate the artisanship in getting the texture just right, and the spicy sauce was amazing too.
had a glass of reccomended white wine ($20) and tried my date's moscato. i wish the bread came out warm, one of my favorite things in life is warm bread. they gave us a bruscetta amuse bouche and a small sampling of cookies at the end (which i nibbled on but was too full to finish).
i was not excited about having a chocolate dessert, because i
a) dont have a sweet tooth and
b) am always too full at the end to enjoy another heavy item.
BUT the chcoclate souffle was the lightest thing ever! it was like eating chocolate whipped cream. they also add real whipped cream on top, if you like. great, not-too-sweet ending to the meal.
overall, great date night. pricey, but am glad i finally got to experience this place.
