This was an amazing find! We looked at many hotels on the small island of Careneros just off the big island of Bocas Del Torro. This one is at the far end, and run by American ex-pats. Steve is the totally laid back and friendly, will help you do what you need to do from getting online, finding a good surf break or your next international real estate purchase. Joan is the lady of the place and she has created her own drink menu in addition to overseeing the operations of the gift shop and the kitchen. Speaking of the kitchen, the restaurant is outside, over the water. There are tables along the dock, very cute and comfortable. The breakfast is included with your stay and it's hot and nice every morning! A real breakfast with eggs, toast and local fresh fruit, coffee, tea. I woke up early, did yoga stretches on the dock and then had breakfast over the water. It was wonderful! The rooms are all cottages of different sizes. Ours was the gecko. You walk along the little paths to get to your cottage, and at night you can see crabs scuttling across the sidewalk! The little cottages are simple, clean and have air conditioning! The price you cannot beat. For two people in a small cabin it was $30 per night, including breakfast. The dinner meals are on special for hotel guests and include three courses, usually a seafood (always fresh) and a nice dessert. I loved it. The kayaks that belong to the place are free for guests to use and we paddled around the small island. We planned to stay two nights but ended up staying three. My favorite thing about the place was "Kinky" the kinkachoo that lived in the small cage near the restaurant. At night Steve would bring her out and you could hold her while she ate her papaya. So cute!!
