The Carlton is a huge hotel in downtown Singapore. Most people staying here seem to be on business, but it’s great for leisure travelers too with an outdoor pool with loungers, a day spa, lots of yummy restaurants to try, and a cocktail bar with live music every night. The Superior Rooms are the most reasonably priced but still spacious and nicely furnished with soft beds, a big TV, and view of the Singapore skyline. It’s a great choice for families too since there’s no charge for children under 12. There were a couple weddings going on when I was here and the ballrooms are really elegant looking. Just across the street is Raffles Place which has shopping, restaurants and a subway station, and the hotel even runs a free shuttle bus to Marina Bay where you can see the new Gardens by the Bay – they’re a must-see!Recommended for:

While it might not be the flashiest hotel in Singapore, the Carlton has always been a favorite when my family visits. Why? It's one of the few "nice" hotels that you can get for under SGD $200 a night, provided you book online and early. The location is perfect-- next to City Hall MRT, Raffles City and Suntec City just nearby, and the Raffles Hotel and Chijmes are also across the street. Pretty much a plethora of shopping and eating options and very central to everything else.
The hotel itself has been renovated in the last year or two and if booking, make sure to request a room in the new wing of the hotel. Since this is primarily a business hotel (and a favorite with airline flight crews, I've noticed) the rooms are a bit sterile, but still nicely done, clean, and comfortable. The pool is also worthy of a visit, as is the gym.
But really, stay here if you want to be in the City Hall area but would rather not pay the prices at the Raffles Hotel, Swisshotel, and the like.Recommended for:

The Carlton is a classy and modern hotel located very snugly in City Hall. It’s footsteps away from the city’s main attractions – Chijmes, Raffles Hotel, Raffles City Shopping Centre, Singapore Art Museum and so on. Their rooms are spacious, urban, stylish and most importantly, comfortable and the Superior rooms are the most reasonable. They have a nice outdoor pool, a gym and spa services running. They also have a nice club room that serves food and drinks that is perfect for people travelling for business. The Carlton itself has three in house dining options – the Café Mosaic, Gravity Bar and the Wah Lok restaurant. The Wah Lok restaurant is a must if you are looking for a good dimsum experience in Singapore – even people who aren’t staying at the Restaurant dine here very frequently! One more thing I really liked about the Carlton is it provides free shuttle services for its guests to multiple locations – a very personal and considerate touch!Recommended for:

Beautiful hotel and all the staff were lovely and very helpful! They helped us arrange tours (night safari) and gave us city maps and helped us get around. All the staff we dealt with spoke great english which made life a lot easier with no need of playing charades. We were about 5 hours to early for check in but the friendly staff found us a room anyway as we'd travelled all night from Brisbane! We had a view looking up towards Orchard Road from the 21st floor!
