    The Restaurant at Mission Ranch

Full, fun atmosphere with a piano player and terrific drinks. Lots of locals hang out here and it's always festive. I haven't tried the food.

    Carmel Belle

We have spent a lot of time in Carmel recently, and I've been roundly disappointed by the breakfast options. Until we found this place. (Thanks Gogobot for helping find it!). The menu is unique and delicious, the atmosphere is very relaxed. They don't take reservations, but apparently they almost never run out of tables. Give it a try!

    Forge in the Forest Restaurant

    7 reviews

VERY good food... much higher quality than you might suspect from the funky decor.. And there's a doggie menu - they welcome dogs in one of their outdoor areas and will bring a menu just for the pooch! Great place - kids, adults, dogs all love this place.

It's hard to pay attention to anything other than the amazing view while you are here, but if you do, the food also happens to be fantastic.

    Brunos Market and Deli

Delicious tri-tip sandwiches from the take out deli in the back. Stock up for your picnic by the beach on your way southbound to Big Sur region in the market itself. Carmel can serve as your personal gateway to Big Sur this way.

This is the answer you're looking for- the dining room is magnificent. It is jutting out over the ocean and the waves splash up towards a tilted glass wall. The suites are spacious and the bathrooms are luxurious. It's all about the views at this place, and the food is outstanding. Have lunch on the deck overlooking the ocean- try ...

    Mundaka Restaurant

    3 reviews

So many of Carmel-by-the-Sea's restaurants are stuffy, old-school dining rooms where locals do lunch. Not this stone courtyard tapas bar, which has live flamenco music and DJs, Spanish/Basque/Californian tapas and house-made sangria. Not cheap, but not unreasonable by Carmel standards either.

    Allegro Pizzeria

    3 reviews

Nice little pizzeria that also offers up large gourmet salads and very customizable"panini" (served hot or cold) sandwiches. I had an amazing hot grilled veggie sandwich with smoked mozzarella doused with basil pesto. My friend also had the grilled veggie, but he had it with goat cheese and sundried tomato pesto...yum! Some of the pricing is a little high, but ...

Really good pizzas and authentic italian pastas off the main area of Ocean in Carmel. Prices are reasonable by Carmel standards and the staff is great. They are also very kid friendly! I would definitely recommend Vesuvio for lunch or dinner! They get really packed on weekend nights, so reservations are recommended! Highlights were the Di Funghi pizza and the ...

Tasty sandwiches, quiches, wraps and soups, and of course a wide array of delicate pastries and cookies. Popular with tourists and locals alike. Seating is a challenge, best to get your order to go and eat it in the nearby park.
