My favorite!!! The food is served family style - big portions - fabulous food!! We love the atmosphere. It's always my first stop when visiting the city.

Came with a large group of thirty and nobody went away hungry. It was more the environment than the food that made it such a good experience.

Good place for solid Italian food. Many of their pasta dishes are decent along with their meats. It's family style, so of course it's best to go in a large group... or a few people that eat as much as a large group :)

Many times this was the default place for my friends and I when I went to grad school at Columbia.

Carmine’s is a NYC institution, and it may not be the best Italian food out there, it can still make for a fun night out. Great for families or large groups of friends--the food is best done family-style.

Very good food, family-style servings, very large portions. VERY large portions. Love their garlic bread, one order will take at least 3 people to finish. And that's what this place is like. Large, crowded, usually a wait to get in so try and eat at the bar if you don't feel like waiting.

Carmine's is famous, crowded, and the food isn't particular AMAZING, but the atmosphere is great and their bar is top notch. Everything is served family style, so either come with some friends or be prepared for monstrous portions. I strongly recommend the fried zucchini; it's very thinly sliced and almost like eating shoestring french fries, but BETTER.

Huge portions of crappy pasta. Only if you're very hungry and don't pay attention to quality.
