I love that I keep getting to try amazing restaurants all over San Diego. Carver’s was a great find in the Rancho Bernardo area. Although the building itself was a tad hard to find for the nonlocals. Don’t give up! It may be hidden, but it’s worth the drive around the plaza.
We skipped the appetizers and went straight for the meat. I split the Texas Chili Oil Rib-Eye, garlic mashed potatoes, and yes, the Alaskan King Crab Legs (I had to see if they compared to my own).
The service was professional. I think that’s the best compliment a server can get. She was educated in the menu, customer service, table etiquette, etc. I know that has a lot to do with the managers and owners.
Splitting plates seemed to be a common occurence at Carvers. My steak was cut in half and put on a smaller plate along with the potatoes. I love that they did that in back. The Texas Chili added the right amount of spice to the perfectly cooked steak.*
The butter for the Crab Legs came on a heater lit with a candle. That was a great touch. By the time I got to the crab it was a little cold, so if you order them make sure you eat them while they are hot!
Overall, we all had a great dinner and left the restaurant feeling very satisfied.
When should you try Carvers? A business meeting, dinner with the parents, any time you want a good steak!
* I must note that I like my cook medium rare, more rare than medium. If my steak is ever overcooked, I will not review it.

Carvers, with its flavorful dishes and exquisite ambience, is supreme. We had a company dinner here, and everything from the succulent filet mignon to the aged wine, the Caesar salad to the giant gooey brownie for dessert was mouth-watering and belly-satisfying. The service is attentive, the atmosphere romantic, and the prices aren't too shabby for a high-end steakhouse.Recommended for
