An unmarked door and excellent cocktails make this a contemporary Roman favorite for night owls.

I was guided to Casa Clementina by a local ex-pat who really liked the place. This is fortunate, as I'd probably never discover it myself. The door is unmarked, and you can distinguish it only from the number 9 and a doorman out front. Cocktails are quite pricey (over 10 euros a pop), but a closer inspection of the ingredients shows that they have some unique combinations of spirits (notably the Sazerac, my favorite drink). Wine can be had in a glass for five euros, and there are plenty of rossi e bianchi to choose from. Service is really friendly, weather you are Italian or American, and the bartenders seem to handle the crowd well.

While I came here late on a Saturday night and found it just comfortably crowded with minimal bar wait, I can imagine that I was just lucky and it can really fill up here. It's small, so just keep that in mind.

Description:

Located in an unmarked spot formerly owned by Libreria Flexi, Casa Clementina is a hip lounge for wine, cocktails, Mario Bros. and art. A DJ spins in the back room as guests lounge on beds and couches, some taking turns playing retro video games. The cocktail menu spans continents, from Sazeracs to Margaritas, and wine by the glass is available as well, with a healthy selection of both reds and whites. At the center of this cavernous place is a bright store selling artistic merchandise, adding to both the charm and eclectic nature of it all.
