Casa Colorada (the Red House) was constructed in 1770, and is one of the few remaining colonial buildings in Santiago. It's famous for being the home of the first elected President of Chile, Don Mateo Zambrono. Also many of the superstars of the Chilean Independence movement, including Jose San Martin and the father of Chilean Independence, Bernardo O'Higgins, stayed at the Casa Colorada.
