When this hotel opened inside a big condo tower, I dismissed it as just another downtown Miami hotel for business travelers. But it’s a lot prettier than its location would suggest—and being on U.S. 1, right near where the causeway shoots over to South Beach, means you get the best of a whole bunch of Miami worlds: the American Airlines Arena is steps away, buzzy neighborhoods like Midtown and the Design District are nearby and you can stay here but be in the Atlantic ocean within 15 minutes (traffic permitting). I like the sage green shades that dominate the rooms, and they’re some of the biggest hotel rooms I have seen in Miami. The bathrooms are glamorous, with TVs in the mirrors, rainfall showers – and in most of the rooms, deep freestanding soaking tubs. If you don’t mind staying away from the beach—or swimming on the 14th floor—you’ll get more luxury for your buck here.

The Casa Moderna feels very Miami, in that way Miami itself feels like an upscale sector of Latin America more than it does a part of the United States. The hotel has that sense of staying abroad, in a nice part of say, Bogota or Buenos Aires, only with an infusion of Miami chic art and style at every corner. I'm rating this slightly lower than the other reviewers simply because I don't feel 100% comfortable in this environment. It's not warm and cozy and doesn't feel like home - to me. However, I absolutely loved the AMUSE bar as well as the rooftop pool and fitness areas. These elements alone are worth the stay and I would come back!
