Casa Oaxaca is outstanding. I suspected this already when I tried their tasting menu prior to the Folklife festival, but I finally made it to their actual restaurant. A coworker of my boyfriend had a nearly-expired Groupon that he gave to us, so we also didn't have to really splurge to go here. We ordered the guacamole and then he got tuna while I got cheese enchiladas, both with black mole sauce. The guac was phenomenal. So were my enchiladas. My boyfriend enjoyed his tuna a lot. The service was not outstanding, but it was fine. The flavors were so different and unique, and we loved it. We want to work up our nerve to try the fondue with grasshoppers sometime. We shall definitely return!

Casa Oaxaca specializes in Margaritas and moles. Whenever we eat here we always enjoy, but inevitably ask ourselves, 'was that dinner worth $17 a plate?". Ultimately, the lack of vegetables (most dishes are a chicken breast, refried beans, rice, and mole sauce) and the mediocrity of the chicken keeps us from coming back.
On the other hand, if you are in DC and would like to try crickets...I think this may be your only option.
