Pictures do not do it justice. This hotel is like Gaudi meets a sandcastle. The rooms are built into the landscape and the artist spares no details down to the tiles in the bathroom that he individually designed.
Wonderful memories from my trip - met the top pop music star of Uruguay there at a party poolside and we were invited to the opening of his new restaurant. Very interesting to watch celebrity culture in Uruguay.

Casapueblo is one of the most architecturally ‘free-spirited’ structures in Uruguay, built by the artist Carlos Páez Vilaró to serve as his house/workshop. Its construction started with a tin-roofed hut covered with wooden planks to then expand to wooden walls covered in OPC and several rooms linked as the wagons of a train. The artist basically integrated his construction to its non-uniform landscape. The house looks more like a clay pizza oven, a nice one! The combination of its unusual architecture along with its art displays make the experience worthwhile.
