The Japanese decor and elegant, plant-lined commons made me forget I was in Austin for a second. Some bottom floor rooms have a spa, and everyone can access the small pool and hot tub outside. The artwork in the hallway walls is a nice touch, and the rooms are modern and nice. The shower has a glass wall so you can see your room - or whoever is showering - unless you pull the shade down. Kinda cool.

This hotel has a very bold and unique exterior. Walking into the lobby is a little disappointing as there’s nothing special as you’d hope based on the exterior. However, you’ll find the rooms are a pleasingly elegant and quirky, particularly with the shower and/or bathtub arrangements. The gym is very small with just a few random machines. The dinning area and lounge area is very spacious and offers a lot of natural light. There is breakfast included with the price of the room. As well, there is a nice outdoor pool and patio area. Even though this location is right off the highway about 3 miles from downtown, this hotel is set high enough on it’s own hill that there’s substantial privacy and room to relax by the pool.

Rose bushes cascade the sides of the drive up to the entrance of the Casulo Hotel, and what an amazing scent they give because there are so many! The Casulo Hotel is an unusually modern hotel. The lobby and the first floor of the hotel is Japanese themed set in contemporary furnishings. The tables are decorated with clear chairs set against black, polished concrete floor. The rooms themselves are small, but exotic. The shower and bath opens into the bedroom with only a glass wall separating the two. In another room, a Jacuzzi is in the center of the bedroom itself. And, for an extra $50 one can upgrade to an elongated room with a separate living space. But, each room comes with flat screen TV, a refrigerator, closet space, and a desk. Complimentary breakfast can be enjoyed in the dining area next to the lobby as well as WIFI throughout the hotel.

There's something comforting about turning into the parking lot of Casulo Hotel, just off of Austin's Interstate 35 - one of the city's most notoriously trafficked highways. It's a relief that there is such a commendable three-star hotel, just off the thoroughfare and minutes from downtown and the airport. I wasn't expecting anything beyond a good location, but the interiors, mostly Asian-inspired, are modern and very pleasant overall. Just past the front desk, there is a casual cafe that is a nice place to eat breakfast in the morning (rooms include a complimentary continental) or dinner (6-8:30 p.m.). Guestrooms, ranging from the standard king to jacuzzi and balcony sweets feature large, comfy beds and bathtubs. Petite suites are the biggest bang for the buck and include an additional sitting room, some overlooking the pool and sun deck on the first floor.
Recreational amenities include an outdoor pool and a fitness facility. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in public areas. A complimentary hot and cold buffet breakfast is served daily in the first floor cafe. Guest parking is complimentary. This is a smoke free property.
There are 51 guestrooms, with city, pool, or garden views. Rooms are individually decorated and furnished in Asian and French-inspired decor. Beds come with Egyptian cotton linens and premium bedding and mini fridges and coffee/tea makers are offered. Bathrooms feature deep tubs, phones, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. In addition to complimentary wireless, high def TVs, wired high speed Internet access, guestrooms offer direct dial phones, free local calls, and voice mail. Air conditioned rooms also include desks, blackout drapes/curtains, electronic keys, and irons/ironing boards. Guests may request hypo allergenic bedding and wake up calls and cribs (infant beds) and rollaway beds are available on request. Guestrooms are all non smoking.
