    Monteverde

    Costa Rica
    25 reviews

Some very biodiverse jungle, monteverde also hosts a cool cloud forest where the windy conditions mean that everything grows in miniture. Big giant ferns, and monkey sin the low lands, with vast sweeping valleys. This is billed as the birthplace of the ziplines (sometimes called canopy tours), and is quite an amzaing place to do them.

    Montezuma

    Costa Rica
    15 reviews

I've been to Montezuma twice on two separate Costa Rica trips, if that says anything. The vibe of the town itself is fantastic. It has a hippie, laid back feel--and it's right on the beach! The beaches in the area are diverse and gorgeous. And there are some excellent waterfalls to hike to. Highly recommend Montezuma.

    Santa Teresa

    Costa Rica

Christmas Eve, 2011 I'm writing poolside at our hotel in Costa Rica. I've been here a week and I'm not certain it has still sunk in yet that I'm on vacation in a foreign country, a gorgeous country at that. I'm drinking the local beer - Imperial. The chaise lounge I'm on is facing east towards the pool complete with ...

    Atenas

    Costa Rica
    1 review

You will be forgiven for not hearing about this small town in Costa Rica. In fact you will be forgiven for only being able to find minimal information about this district in the province of Alajuela. You will even be forgiven for not knowing that it is located in Alajuela mountain range, and is one of the most scenic places ...

    Mal Pais

    Costa Rica
    4 reviews

Mal Pais is tucked on the north-western side of Costa Rica and is a rustic, surfer's paradise. Some areas of Costa Rica can start to feel like Disney land but here there's sandy dirt roads, small dive bars and restaurants, and miles of open beach and perfect rolling waves. This area is known as one of the best locations in ...

Playa Hermosa is a beach break paradise for big wave loving surfers. It is quiet, safe and beautiful with a variety of lodging options from luxury to backpacker-style hostels. This is the place to stay if you don't want to be in the middle of party town, but don't want to be too far away either. Jaco is just a ...

    Uvita

    Costa Rica
    6 reviews

Downtown Uvita isn't the largest town in Costa Rica but it's a quaint oasis on the west coast. I stopped here for a quick bite at the only restaurant. It was the best food I had during my stay!

    Tarcoles

    Costa Rica
    1 review

Close to Jaco, this little town is where the Tarcoles river is and that is where the crocodile tours are. We paid $69 each person to go on the Crocodile tour and even though it was cool to see our boat driver stand a foot away from a crocodile to feed it, we didn't feel that was worth $69. Amazingly ...

Not as consistent surf as Hermosa nearby, but if you want the 'beach to yourself' feeling, this is the place to be.

    Playa Matapalo

    Costa Rica
    3 reviews

Remote and wild, Matapalo is an epic surfing destination in one of the most adventurous corners of Costa Rica. Nothing else in Central America holds a candle to the Osa Peninsula's (and Corcovado National Park) tracks of pristine wilderness.

Originally a French Canadian settlement the village is surrounded by such beauty it is easy to see why so many people fall in love with the area. Approximately thirty minutes south of Dominical and thirty minutes north of Palmar Norte this little piece of paradise is often overlooked by travellers. There's no noisy backpacker bars and no surf lessons on ...
