When they say central, they mean it. Right in the midst of the action this perfectly situated hotel is the bees-knees if you want to wander around QT by foot. Tucked into a quiet side street you won't have to deal with overflowing buzz of town - but you will get ample opportunity to get amongst it. The hotel itself is a beautiful little oasis within the micro-urban downtown. The rooms are nicely designed with clean lines, comfy beds, soft towels and stylish furnishings. The honeymoon suite is a nice treat, even if it isn't your honeymoon - the balcony has great views and the friendly staff is all about making sure you have a great stay. There is an on-site mini spa right off the lobby so if those muscles are sore from a day of hiking or an afternoon of bungy jumping you can get loosened right up before hitting the town.

While Central Ridge doesn’t have the magnificent views that other places in Queenstown might, it’s proximity to town and lakeside or garden walks means it’s still quite a winner in my books, although perhaps a little overpriced for what you get, especially with the dearer rooms? The rooms had a quiet elegance about them with warm timber trim, subtle feature walls, lovely baths, comfortable beds and fresh flowers - I appreciate the attention to such details. There’s also an in-house day spa where massage and beauty treatments are provided and while this is a nice idea the manicure station set up in the lobby was odd – not exactly serenity.
