Stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. The staff was very helpful during check in, check out, and giving us recommendations for places to see and where to eat in Vancouver. The room a good size and came with a full kitchen (stove, fridge, etc). The room was also clean; however the bed wasn't too comfortable and the bathroom needed some updating. The location is right in the middle of city, close to Yaletown and Robson and about a mile away from Gastown and Canada Place.

Just in time for the Olympics, the hotel completed major renovations to its lobby and restaurant. The exterior is quite drab, which makes entering the hotel a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. Leather bench seating, bouquets of exotic flowers and classy waterfall chandeliers make the hotel feel more opulent than it really is.

Even though the rooms are under various stages of renovations, none were on par with the look and feel of the lobby and lounge areas. In fact, the corridors felt worn around the edges and there was a huge discrepancy between the inspired décor in the lobby and the very basic furnishings in the guestrooms (e.g. some of the floor lamps looked like they came from IKEA).

On the upside, every room has, at minimum, a kitchenette (mini fridge and microwave), and most have balconies. Plus, it’s home to Absolute Spa’s flagship spa (yes, toiletries come from the spa!) and Beyond Restaurant, which feels more like you’re out on the town than in the hotel’s dining room.

The Century Plaza is just a little out of the way for the casual tourist since the sightlines from the street don’t really point to any good landmarks but it’s not too far away from shopping and the art gallery that guests couldn’t walk.

The rooms in the hotel seem to be a mish-mash of different upgrades that were conducted on a one-off basis. This can come across as great for people who want variety within the same hotel but really it just seems a bit sloppy as there’s not real strong identity that I can describe about the rooms. That said, they do all have either a kitchen or kitchenette and individual a/c if that’s what you’re looking for.

The hotel has no gym or business centre and the pool is in a room without windows and feels very isolated but a lot of guests probably don’t regularly use their hotels’ gyms and pools. On a positive note, they do have a very nice spa, a large restaurant that’s been recently jazzed-up and has several areas depending on if you want to just lounge and have a drink or sit down for a full meal.

The most defining feature of the hotel is that it’s connected to a comedy club that sees a lot of talent walk through and there are packages available that offer dinner and a show.

One of the best hotels for the price. Rooms are very clean and large and in downtown Vancouver. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Also, when you are there try the breakfast. It is a little bit pricey but way worth the price.
