Description

Cerro El Avila is a densely forested mountain that stands between Caracas and Venezuela's Caribbean beaches. The mountain is part of El Avila National Park, and is also called Waraira Repano, the indigenous name for the area. The mountain can be climbed by foot, by bike, by off-road vehicle, or by aerial cable car (the Teleferico). The park has a high level of biodiversity, and is home to over 100 butterfly species, 120 mammal species, and 500 birds.
