Following San Cristóbal Hill, Cerro Santa Lucía is another hill in Santiago that offers killers views. On its top, two castle-like forts were built in the 19th century. They were finished in 1820. The place features many statues and monuments and is a nice place to visit if you want to take a long walk and visit some amazing architecture.

The staff treated me with care and consideration and the hostel was nice and clean. I also really liked the huge, floor-to-ceiling windows in the dormitory — I love classic features when it comes to architecture — but apart from that there wasn’t really anything special about this hotel or anything to make it stand out from the rest. It ...

I loved the view from the roof terrace. It looks directly out over the famous Santa Lucia Hill. The BBQ grill on the terrace was a real plus too. When traveling on a budget it’s great to be able to bring food back to the hostel to cook. Amazingly, the owner recycles the trash. Guests separate their rubbish and he ...

Excellent apartments for a good price. They don't offer any kind of service you usually find in hotels (except daily cleaning), and everything is self service, but it is a very good choice, unless you really enjoy the perks of a good hotel.

Amazing, well executed, brilliant, creative are just few of the adjectives I would use to describe "The Aubrey". Upon entering you are greeted by a warm and professional Malaysian women that glows with satisfaction of someone who really loves her job. You move on to see the amazing design and execution of the patio (with a wall waterfall, nice touch), ...

Many times when entering into a large hotel it is the smaller details that clue you in to how good the hotel will be. I loved this little place! It’s situated on tiny cobbled street, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but just a few paces away from all the central action. The staff were lovely — particularly the cleaning staff. I really like staying in places which once were large, family houses. This hotel still has lots of its ...

This charmer manages to be right in the pumping heart of Santiago and also feel like a respite from it. It manages to be both luxurious and casual. Ensconced in the restored mansion is a private patio, with walls so tall and so lavished in foliage that the noise of the nearby artery is nil. Float in the pool, or ...

The outdoor pool Hotel Galerias was by far the best feature of the hotel. The decking area was spacious and there’s a covered patio to shield you from the hot sun in the summer months. One major issue with the pool, though, is that it isn’t climatised and so the hotel closes off the area when the weather turns cold. ...

There’s dormitories for budget travelers and private rooms (with shared or private bathroom) for anyone looking for privacy. They rent out small apartments in a building around the corner. It's located In the middle of the coolest, artsiest neighborhood in Santiago. From this place you can walk to a bunch of cool places like Bar Constitución or Patio Bellavista. The subway station is pretty close too and you can go on a free walking tour through the neighborhood leaving from right next to the hostel.

The staff at this hotel explained to me that Nippon is a synonym for Japanese, which I didn’t know. The owner of the hotel is Japanese and in all the communal areas of the hotel there were references to Japan — through paintings, keepsakes and lettering on signs — which I found fascinating. I liked the clean, basic look to ...

The apartments in Ah Hotel are really spacious. You can rent an apartment with two rooms for up to four adults, or a smaller one with just one bedroom for two adults. I was chatting with a guy that works at the Santiago Marriott recently and he told me that they're about to remodel their lobby – and that “when it's done, it will look better than the W.” Well, it's easy to see why the W sets the design standard for Santiago hotels. The lobby décor is so uber-modern that you ...
