The Intercontinental Istanbul is conveniently situated within easy walking distance of Taksim Square. A short walk will get you to the metro, a ride on the funicular railway gets you to the tram stop at Kabatas, from where you can easily get into the old city.
I stayed in a Junior suite overlooking the pool and the park. The room was large, had plenty of seating and cupboard space (3 double wardrobes), a spacious bathroom (although I think this was an accessible room) a second guest bathroom, in room safe (big enough to fit a couple of iPads and a 10 inch notebook)
The spacious bathroom had a lighted shaving mirror, his and her's sinks, shower cubicle and a bath with shower and hand shower, in short extremely well appointed.
Room service was electric, the ice bucket test took only a few minutes. The hotel has free wifi and I had no problems with connection or speed, all in all quite impressive.
My only slight complaint would be the number of accessible electric points, there were a few behind the TV which I couldn't get to, so if I had to change one thing in the room it would be to install one of those hub/power banks to provide a bit more juice for today's ever burgeoning list of gadgets that we all travel with.
The hotel was very clean throughout, service was of the highest standard, the club lounge has stunning views over The Bosphorous and provides an adequate breakfast.
The hotel is nothing much to look at from the outside but has a beautiful spacious lobby, the front desk staff were efficient and polite.
On the roof the 'City Lights' bar is well worth a visit although drinks are somewhat pricey. the outdoor pool is also very clean and seems to have adequate seating.
Overall I was very impressed and pleased with my 3 night stay here. Would I visit this hotel again? Definitely yes.Recommended for:

In Istanbul a good gym and spa is hard to come by unless you shell out serious cash. However in the summer of 2009 my wife and I purchased a three month pass to the gym, pool and spa at the Intercontinental. Lounging by the pool, gourmet sandwiches and going for a swim was a great way to minimize our longing for the Jersey Shore. Although situated right near Taksim, the Intercontinental felt oddly like an oasis. After an hour of cardio with a Bosphorus view and lifting weights in the high tech gym, soaking up steam in the Turkish bath on the premises was a perfect way to ease out the kinks in our muscles.Recommended for:

Even if you don’t stay here, I highly recommend that you have a drink or dinner at the rooftop bar and restaurant here one evening during your visit to Istanbul. The panoramic view of the Bosphorus is phenomenal. That superb experience is reiterated in the rest of the hotel as well, making a stay here an excellent experience to compliment the fascinating city outside. They not only have a fitness room, but a separate weight room as well as an outdoor pool and a hamam to enjoy. I fell in love with the relaxation room – arranged in a circle, so that every lounge chair faces windows with views of the city. The room was the embodiment of comfort and class, spacious and warm, with a big tub in the bathroom. With Taksim square and all its attractions just blocks away, you get the best of both worlds.Recommended for:

The InterContinental Istanbul Ceylan is located in Harbiye, a short walk from Takism Square. The hotel's exterior looks like a high-rise, and upon entering you are met with elegant marble floors and gold painted accents throughout the lobby. The furniture is velvety and very comfy to sit in after roaming the city all day! The lobby is bustling with tourists and businessmen and women. The lobby has a bar, sweet shop, and restaurant. The rooms are lovely and cozy, and are great to settle into after traveling a long way. I visited the hotel during the winter time, and the bright and airy lobby and rooms were refreshing compared to the cold of Istanbul!
