When I was ski guide in the Trois Vallees we often made the long trek from Courchevel to Val Thorens. It was possible to do this round trip if you caught the first chair, and kept moving the whole day long -- I think it took 26 chair lifts and a couple of gondola's to go all the way around (Trois Valees is the largest ski area in the world), but when I had slower people in the group we sometimes stayed in Du Soleil, which was owned by the same company I worked for. The lodge is once again classic Alp log cabin style, but is unique in that you can ski in and out. People always enjoyed the lodge-- it is rustic and simple, but charming and cozy at the same time. The rooms are very large, and the lounge with fireplace is a perfect place to relax after your very long trek from Courchevel.
