I wasn't wowed by this hotel at all. As soon as I walked inside, it smelled like a smoky casino (even though the hotel is "non-smoking"). The lobby area had a motel lodge feel to it, though it did have a knowledgeable concierge and plentiful brochures about local Boston attractions. I thought the guest rooms were pretty small and basic, though they did have large floor-length mirrors and modern-style bathrooms. The restaurant next door to the hotel also reeks of smoke, and it has mostly sports bar-type fare on the menu. I think this is a solid choice for a short stay, but based on the lack of amenities and room space, I would choose somewhere else for an extended trip.Recommended for:

At my first glance of the Chandler Inn, I suspected there was something strange between its appearance and location. Tucked away in the quieter South End, the building could pass as an old apartment complex in the middle of the nit and grit of Boston. To further add to its eccentricity, I was bombarded with a colorful interior and geometric patterns adorning the walls of the lobby. My first steps into the hotel left me dumbfounded. Self-described as a "boutique" hotel, the Chandler Inn shattered any notions from my first impression by providing a modern, stylish, and vibrant hotel experience. Add the fact that Downtown Boston is only a stone’s throw away, the Chandler Inn is sure to provide great accommodation for travelers and out-of-towners.

The next time I have family in Boston, there's a good chance I'll send them here. The prices are super reasonable, but you don't feel like you're in a cheap roadside motel. And the location is convenient, but not so much in the thick of things that it's loud or chaotic. Rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. They're also pet friendly!Recommended for:
