Secluded island, white sands and gorgeous clear-blue waters: this is one of my favorite places in the world. It's better than Phuket. It's still a bit touristy, but quiet enough to be an oasis. Bring snacks before you hit the island, though—there aren't many convenience marts (if any at all), and you'll eat most of your meals at the restaurant at your guesthouse.

Koh Phi Phi Don (big island) and Koh Phi Phi Leh (small island) both make up the Phi Phi islands. I only took a day trip from Phuket but next time I get a chance to go to Phuket, I will go and stay 1 to 2 nights here.

Every time we go to Phuket, we do the Phi Phi Island on the speed boats especially. It's a terrific day out.

Easy access from Phukey by ferry, deserted beaches, some decent rock climbing and nice scuba diving (tons of leopard sharks during my week). Koh Phi Phi had everything we could want!

One of the most picturesque places in Thailand. Beautiful beach, a little over crowded, but worth the visit. If you can manage it, get a reservation to camp on the smaller Koh Phi Phi island (where Leo's 'The Beach' was filmed.) Pretty big party scene, so if you're not into that find a more remote resort/hotel or make Phi Phi a day trip. Also has great hikes!

Koh Phi Phi Don is amazingly beautiful - I recommend going just before high season (late October)... you may hit a few days of rain but not every day will be sweltering hot, and you'll find crowds and prices will be a lot better than in the months following!

Most of the bars along the beach have similar offerings, prices are higher than the rest of Thailand but still affordable (by Western standards). When you get off the Ferry (from Phuket or elsewhere) you'll be bombarded by people selling hotel rooms - they can be a useful resource but I'd highly recommend going to check places out before handing over any money!! Most of them will help you cart your bags around while your'e figuring it out (for a tip), which can be worth it since Koh Phi Phi doesn't have any motorized vehicles and it's a pedestrian island.

Also hightly recommended: Make it over to Koh Phi Phi Ley.. it's the smaller island just off shore of Koh Phi Phi Don, and it's where they filmed 'The Island' with Leonardo DiCaprio! It's incredibly beautiful and totally worth the day trip!

One of the most awesome day trips we could have taken in Thailand. We haven't been back since the tsunami but I've heard that they are or have built everything back up.

I like this white sand and peaceful island as it is an ideal place for a rest and relax trip. Scuba diving can be interesting as the coral and fish are colorful.
