While the Charlesmark is in a prime location in the heart of Back Bay shopping and restaurants, the rest of its amenities leave a little bit to be desired. The guest rooms are really tiny, as are the hallways and lobby area. I also thought the lounge area downstairs was a little cramped, especially when the bar opens at night. I did like the outdoor seating area, though, as well as the posh furniture and d├ęcor on the interior. When I visited, they were in the process of upgrading guest rooms to include refrigerators and flat screen TVs, which will be nice additions. I just felt like the charm was a little lackluster for a boutique hotel in such a premier location.

The location of the Charlesmark Hotel is unbeatable. Located on Boylston St AND situated right across from the Boston Public Library, the Charlesmark resides on some very exclusive real estate. Greeted by a slight hum of classical music upon entering my room, I knew I was in for a treat. To add to the contemporary and luxurious feel of the building, a fancy bar and restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel serves patrons and guests alike. My only qualm about the Charlesmark is that it is a little pricey, but with a location like theirs, it is certainly fitting.

Situated just paces from Copley Square, you won't find a much better location--especially if you're in town for business, shopping, bar hopping or culinary exploration. I'd say the Charlesmark is best suited for the weekend traveler, as the rooms are really small and there's not a lot of space to put your things. And while some of the rooms have pull-out beds for children, I think there are much more family-friendly hotels around the city. It's a good fit for "young professionals." I didn't try anything at the martini bar, but it looked like it could be a nice spot to grab a drink--especially with the street side patio out front.

Very small hotel where you actually get a key. Yes a physical key. It's in a good location and each room has a unique decor. There aren't any views in any of the rooms and you need to walk thru a small restaurant/bar to get into the hotel. It's good for a night stay or if you're on a budget but I'd recommend other hotels if your staying longer than a night.
