After a long day of hitting the pavement and dealing with smelly subways, the Lodge's cozy, Americana style is a breath of fresh air. The lobby is decorated with vintage photos and antique-style sage ducks, and comfortable leather love seats that you can sink into. The rooms feel very much like part of a quaint, New England bed and breakfast. The walls are decorated in a checkered print, and wooden frames hold vintage postcards and photographs of American landscapes. The linens look a bit worn, but their plaid prints add a Southern charm to the room. There is a sink and shower in the lodge room, and a shared toilet is located on each floor. The shower has no separation from the rest of the room, which might prove to be missy, but at least you don't have to share one with other guests on the floor.Recommended for:

Not the fanciest place in town, but certainly not the worst and you are located in a great part of Manhattan - Chelsea. The rooms are a bit tight on space but you may find yourself hardly noticing the lack of space because you're always out exploring, unless of course you opt for the suites, which cost more but can fit up to 4 people so it might be a good idea for groups. I adore this historic neighborhood. You have your choice of trendy restaurants and multiple shopping stores and it's even close to the Citibikes if you want to go for a ride. They also offer coffee and tea in the mornings between 7:30-11:30 am which is always a great way to start your day off.

Chelsea Lodge is a delightful gift to the neighborhood! Inconspicuously up a stoop resembling any other neighborhood apartment, this hotel’s cheery, spacious accommodations are just steps away from some of the city’s best dining and attractions (not to mention transportation), try to reserve here first when visiting in Manhattan. Several room options, from the floral-decorated lodge room with a shared toiled, to the deluxe rooms with private bathrooms, to the suites (studio apartments with kitchens and gardens!), offer plenty of flexibility to solo travelers or groups. Air conditioning is installed in the summer and homey touches like Hershey Kisses on pillows and free coffee in the reception area offer a welcoming atmosphere in the big city. Book suites early, which can easily fit a group of 4 for around $200, and offer the choice of various garden areas.
