I really like this castle, it has a little bit of everything that a good castle needs - the looks, a good history and plenty of places to explore. I've been here plenty of times before and I'm sure to visit many more in the future.

What is it about castles that speaks to some innate human need? Seriously, who doesn't love visiting castles? I'm a big fan of the old and scraggly ones -- crumbling stones, moats, the whole works.
Chepstow is like castle perfection for me, then. I wasn't the biggest Wales fan, but this was my favorite stop in the entire country. Commissioned by William the Conqueror in 1067, the castle has some serious historical cred. You can now walk around the exterior and admire the 1000-year-old architecture. Astounding.
