This is by far the most unusual and interesting museum in Dublin. They've got a bit of everything, but the core of the collection is made up of rare religious texts from Asia and the Middle East. Lots of manuscripts on papyrus, hundreds of Korans, early Biblical texts, and so on. The garden outside is a perfect place for a picnic.

A free museum within the Dublin Castle complex that houses a large collection of illuminated religious texts.
Definitely not up to the same status of the Book of Kells, but many really interesting artifacts and displays.

Description:

This library-slash-museum, located on the grounds of the Dublin Castle, houses the collections of mining magnate Sir Alfred Chester Beatty. The collections are displayed in two parts: the Sacred Traditions collection and the Artistic Traditions collection. The museum's collection of religious texts and art make it one of the premier sources of scholarship for both Old and New Testament. The collection exhibits rare and historic texts, paintings, prints, drawings and arts from Islamic, East Asian and Western cultures.
