This hotel just screams "Seedy Porn Set" with its dreadful taxidermy and dark furnishings. Most people want light, bright and art deco when they come to Miami-- think neon and flamingos. Instead, the Chesterfield invites you into a lobby that looks like a funeral's just been held, and all the curtains have been drawn to keep the sun from coming in. It's always a gamble when you book a hotel that's this close to Ocean Drive, and Chesterfield is a sure miss. The hotel includes a bar in the lobby, a sketchy elevator and a rooftop hot tub that I simply would not trust. The rooms are a bit better than the rest of the property, but not by much. The best I can say about it is that the staff was super friendly and accommodating, and the location is at least accessible to the chic-er parts of Miami Beach.Recommended for:

One of the original Art Deco hotels, the Chesterfield Hotel has a unique vibe all its own. But vegans beware. In the lobby zebra hides and wild gazelle heads are brazenly displayed with unapologetic decadence. Thus, the loud house music seems appropriate, but annoying in any case. If you're looking to party and be in the center of the action on Collins Ave, then Chesterfield definitely fits the bill. The rooms are small but clean and with a décor that will make you feel like you're channeling Austen Powers. Still, it's kind of overpriced with few amenities, but there is a free shuttle service, which makes up for the slow valets who can't speak English.Recommended for:
