L'Ami Jean is one of the best destinationsin Paris to experience cuisine bistronomique -- high-caliber cooking served in a homey neighborhood setting. We were so inspired by our trip to l'Ami Jean that we added a bistronomique to our regular specialties at Comme Ca in West Hollywood. You will be full when you finish this mean but don't leave without trying the house specialty rice pudding.Recommended for:Foodies

The chef is from the Basque region of Spain and the menu reflects his origins. The place is casual and lively and the food rustic and tasty. When we went, we felt the servers were rushing us, which was very unParisian, otherwise, the meal was excellent. For dessert, you get the rice pudding whether you ordered it or not.

Went on the suggestion of Bon Appetit magazine, and they're usually right.
Can be challenging to feed picky eaters or vegetarians because they serve family style. The cheese soup with fresh peas was FORMIDABLE! My husband had the pork dish, that included pork 5 ways and was in heaven.
Went against our better judgement and didn't try the famous rice pudding, only to kick ourselves later.
