diversity of the city’s neighborhoods, where you can explore everything from stately Victorian mansions to revitalized warehouses that now host some of the city’s coolest restaurants and nightclubs. It’s no surprise that Chicago was rated one of the top destinations in the U.S. by Gogobot users.

Luxury Hotels in Chicago
Many major hotels are concentrated in the Loop, close to Chi-Town’s most popular attractions including Millennium Park, the Navy Pier, the Willis Center, and the Magnificent Mile. The Drake Hotel Chicago, located on the Magnificent Mile, has long played host to visiting royalty and other celebrities. Another iconic Windy City hotel is the Palmer House, situated in the Loop and dating back to the 1870s. Another notable establishment is the Congress Plaza Hotel on Michigan Ave., known for its historic past and stunning architecture. There’s also the much lauded ACME Hotel Company with its minimalist furnishings, wacky artwork, and attentive staff. Or try the James Hotel Chicago for a little bit of pet-friendly flair. Most of the city’s notable hotels offer excellent amenities, ranging from fitness rooms, free continental breakfast, and indoor pools to indulgent spas that pamper guests with a huge menu of treatments. Chicago is a foodie’s dream, with culinary offerings that go well beyond the iconic deep dish pizza. Many of the city’s hotels also boast excellent restaurants, like the trendy NoMI Kitchen at the Park Hyatt or the iconic Palm Court at the Drake, where the afternoon tea is rumored to rival the British.

Hotels by Neighborhood
Regardless of the time of year of your visit, there’s plenty to see and do in Chicago. The city’s lovely Millennium Park is one of the newer attractions, situated in the Loop area of the city. It opened in 2004 and includes pavilions and amphitheaters for concerts, and is close to many hotels, including the Westin Michigan Avenue and Hilton Chicago. The Shedd Aquarium is a perfect place to bring the kiddos, and the Art Institute of Chicago is packed with iconic paintings. If it’s a great view you are after, try the W Hotel Chicago, which overlooks Lake Michigan and is only steps away from Navy Pier. Another lodging with views of the lake is the Essex Inn Chicago, located within easy walking distance of many of the city’s best attractions.

    Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront

    Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    4 reviews
Excellent! - 88% of guests recommend

Big and sleek, the Wyndham Grand (formerly Hotel 71), offers plenty for those looking to stay close to the action, or those who just want great views of downtown and the river. The way the river cuts through Chicago creates a valley of glass skyscrapers and water, a concrete canyon of sorts. It’s one of the best views in town. ...

Everyone at the Wyndham Blake was so polite and made sure to offer the best rates for staying at their hotel. Multiple people were working the desk and they all made it a priority to give me a smile and a hello upon arrival. While the interior is extremely nice as well, my favorite part of the hotel is the ...

I would give it 3.5 but the value is quite incredible. Located in the Financial District, Central Loop is in close proximity to everything. They have free wifi and free water by the elevators. The room itself is quite small but has everything you need!

    Days Inn Chicago

    Hotel Class:

Excellent! - 85% of guests recommend

Though this hotel may not seem as elegant as most downtown options, this is one of the nicer Days Inn locations you’ll probably come across. It has a nice gym for those who want to work up a sweat in the morning and offers a free carb-heavy breakfast. I really liked the ornate sarcophagus that rests in the lobby. It’s ...

This is a very relaxed atmosphere, considering it exists at the feet of Wrigleyville. It can get a little bit rowdy at night. But if you’re in town for a Cubs game, this is a great location. The rooms are a little smaller. I’d recommend going in for a suite. The Belmont CTA stop next door will get you anywhere ...

    The Tremont - Chicago

    Hotel Class:

Fair - 72% of guests recommend

The lobby of the Tremont is gorgeous, the rest of the place isn’t half bad either. Apparently the lobby is the same as it was in 1927 when the place was built; elegant, hardwood floors, a high ceiling. It’s beautiful. The rooms are modest. The Tremont had been an apartment building until fifty years ago, and it is prime real ...

Walking into the sunny and spacious lobby of the South Loop Hotel, I was greeted by two handsome bellmen dressed in dapper suits and ties. They were extremely attentive and friendly. Unlike many of the historic hotels in the city, the South Loop Hotel was built only four years ago and the modern, upscale atmosphere definitely reflects that. The beds ...

Because of the faded sign, I questioned whether the Crowne Plaza Hotel was even still open when I first saw it. Once inside though, it opened up into a nice lobby area complete with a fireplace and large virtual screen with visitor information. I actually thought the standard room was a suite at first for its immense size and hallway ...

I was pleasantly surprised by the Carlton Inn, with its dark green and red color scheme, fenced off patio, and fitness room. The guestrooms are fairly simple, standard, and clean. I thought the soap and lotion dispenser in the bathroom was odd, but I'm sure it's more environmentally friendly than the usual single use bottles. The motel offers both free ...

This is a great hotel. The most memorable thing about it is definitely how spacious it is. This is a shabby hotel with a fantastic location. It's not pretty--the furniture in the lobby has seen brighter days, and the red walls and carpet in some rooms make them seem even tinier than they are--but it's fine enough for sleeping and showering if that's all you plan to do in your room. The price is right, certainly. There's ...

Ohio House Motel I honestly don’t even know how this place is still around. It seems as if almost every other hotel in River North is trying to compete in some luxury-and-amenities arms race, and Ohio House Motel is just not participating in it. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. If you just want a place where you can drive ...
