    The Talbott Hotel

    The Talbott Hotel

    6 reviews
Excellent! - 93% of guests recommend

The Talbott has a lot going for it—a Gold Coast address, Green Seal certification, and a luxurious European vibe that hits you as soon as you walk into the lobby, which is outfitted with warm wood walls, leather sofas and (when I visited) a roaring fireplace, making it feel more like an English manor house than a hotel a few ...

Very Good! - 81% of guests recommend

The Hilton is the President’s preferred hotel and it is easy to see why. Royal décor, perfect desks, breathtaking views, and an accommodating staff make this one of the best hotels in Chicago. The furniture is great, and looks like it has been built for royalty. The beds are super soft and attractive. The desks really stand out here, and ...

    Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago

    Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago

    Class:
    8 reviews
Excellent! - 85% of guests recommend

This is a lovely, historic building right between Lake Michigan and Michigan Ave. The lobby is impressive with high ceilings and antique touches; the front desk is tucked away in the corner so the first thing you see is an espresso bar when you walk in. The rooms are nice, but mostly unremarkable. Overall, I thought the Knickerbocker was a ...

    Conrad Chicago

    Class:
    8 reviews
Excellent! - 91% of guests recommend

The Conrad has an elegant, “boutiquey” feel to its 311 rooms, offering escalating levels of laid back luxuriance right in the heart of the Loop. Sister property to the New York Waldorf Astoria, it’s in a “historic” 1928 property, the former McGraw Hill publishing house (which was offered as an explanation why the standard rooms vary in size down to ...

    Hostelling International USA

    Class:
    7 reviews
Excellent! - 87% of guests recommend

Chicago doesn’t have as many hostels as other international hubs, but hostels also aren’t as popular in the states as they are abroad. It makes sense then that this hostel is much larger than most European hostels. Seriously, this thing is big. There’s a downstairs seating area by the lobby, and a cool flag display hangs over the stairs leading ...

You can't beat a hotel with a donut shop in the lobby, right? From the expansive guest rooms to the public restrooms in the lobby, this place is impeccably designed and decorated. I loved the green and brown color scheme in the room which, on a cold day in January, felt warm and bright. The living area in the suite ...

    Allerton Hotel

    Allerton Hotel

    Class:
    9 reviews

The Allerton may be a sleekly modern boutique hotel now, decorated in rich greys, navy and silver, but underneath the bold graphic prints and contemporary design is a ton of history. Built in 1924, this North Italian Renaissance-style hotel was once the home of the famous 1950s Don McNeill's Breakfast Club radio show, and also the location of the swanky ...

This is a stately hotel, very nicely designed. The lobby is warm and welcoming (love the giant Jenga game set up across from the front desk). Like many hotels in Chicago, the rooms are quite small, but they use the space well, I think. I don't care for the view; it's a bit too commercial for my taste. The Atwood ...

Hotel Indigo is like a beach in the middle of the city, even though there is another beach that is actually a real beach within walking distance. Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile

The rooms in the Double Tree are very open and bright. Normally I would recommend the Lake View, but here the City view is actually a little bit better. Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago

    Class:

Excellent! - 91% of guests recommend

The Hampton Inn name doesn’t exactly scream “classic Chicago,” but this Loop hotel is located in the Majestic Building, an historic edifice located in the heart of downtown. After emerging from the marble-cocooned elevator-bank area, I noticed that the hotel looked much more modern, like it semi-recently received an update. The lobby isn’t too spacious, but it does have a ...

Chicago Hotel Insider
Each year, about 30 million visitors head to Chicago to explore the Midwest’s most vibrant, bustling metropolis, ready to explore its urban parks, world-class museums, great spectator sports, cutting edge theater, and, of course, stunning Lake Michigan. An added perk is the diversity of the city’s neighborhoods, where you can explore everything from stately Victorian mansions to revitalized warehouses that now host some of the city’s coolest restaurants and nightclubs. It’s no surprise that Chicago was rated one of the top destinations in the U.S. by Gogobot users.

Luxury Hotels in Chicago
Many major hotels are concentrated in the Loop, close to Chi-Town’s most popular attractions including Millennium Park, the Navy Pier, the Willis Center, and the Magnificent Mile. The Drake Hotel Chicago, located on the Magnificent Mile, has long played host to visiting royalty and other celebrities. Another iconic Windy City hotel is the Palmer House, situated in the Loop and dating back to the 1870s. Another notable establishment is the Congress Plaza Hotel on Michigan Ave., known for its historic past and stunning architecture. There’s also the much lauded ACME Hotel Company with its minimalist furnishings, wacky artwork, and attentive staff. Or try the James Hotel Chicago for a little bit of pet-friendly flair. Most of the city’s notable hotels offer excellent amenities, ranging from fitness rooms, free continental breakfast, and indoor pools to indulgent spas that pamper guests with a huge menu of treatments. Chicago is a foodie’s dream, with culinary offerings that go well beyond the iconic deep dish pizza. Many of the city’s hotels also boast excellent restaurants, like the trendy NoMI Kitchen at the Park Hyatt or the iconic Palm Court at the Drake, where the afternoon tea is rumored to rival the British.

Hotels by Neighborhood
Regardless of the time of year of your visit, there’s plenty to see and do in Chicago. The city’s lovely Millennium Park is one of the newer attractions, situated in the Loop area of the city. It opened in 2004 and includes pavilions and amphitheaters for concerts, and is close to many hotels, including the Westin Michigan Avenue and Hilton Chicago. The Shedd Aquarium is a perfect place to bring the kiddos, and the Art Institute of Chicago is packed with iconic paintings. If it’s a great view you are after, try the W Hotel Chicago, which overlooks Lake Michigan and is only steps away from Navy Pier. Another lodging with views of the lake is the Essex Inn Chicago, located within easy walking distance of many of the city’s best attractions.
