    Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront

    Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront

    Class:
    4.5
    4 reviews
Excellent! - 88% of guests recommend

My favorite part of Chicago is the riverfront, so this hotel on Wacker Drive earned major points before I even walked in. I've passed by in the summer, and they always have a lively crowd outside on their beautiful patio, but today it was freezing cold and there was definitely no one hanging around out front. Inside, though, it was ...

Solid hotel with extra points for consistency of service and quality. My check in was quick and I got some extra amenities for being a Starwood member. Rooms are fairly spacious, clean, and I enjoy their beds and linens. I would suggest placing the "do not disturb" sign up if you're not an early riser. I forgot to do so ...

Everyone at the Wyndham Blake was so polite and made sure to offer the best rates for staying at their hotel. Multiple people were working the desk and they all made it a priority to give me a smile and a hello upon arrival. While the interior is extremely nice as well, my favorite part of the hotel is the ...

I would give it 3.5 but the value is quite incredible. Located in the Financial District, Central Loop is in close proximity to everything. They have free wifi and free water by the elevators. The room itself is quite small but has everything you need!

Excellent! - 85% of guests recommend

Though this hotel may not seem as elegant as most downtown options, this is one of the nicer Days Inn locations you’ll probably come across. It has a nice gym for those who want to work up a sweat in the morning and offers a free carb-heavy breakfast. I really liked the ornate sarcophagus that rests in the lobby. It’s ...

Very Good! - 80% of guests recommend

I can't say this for certain, but I suspect a lot of City Suites' business comes from folks who've been having too much fun in Wrigleyville and Boystown and decide to spend the night instead of taking a taxi home. Between the Belmot el station and the bars in the area, it can get pretty noisy. The hotel's decor is ...

    Class:

Fair - 73% of guests recommend

The Tremont is a little worn around the edges, but still clean and comfortable. When I visited, the elevator was undergoing an upgrade, making all hotel guests have to use a back service elevator that, to be honest, didn't give off the best first impression. Upstairs, the rooms are decently sized with plush beds and bathrooms with marble countertops. Guests ...

The décor in this hotel did not blow my mind, but it’s definitely nice enough for a short stay. The lobby has a nice stacked-stone fireplace and some modern, cube-shaped sofa chairs. I’m not too fond of hanging out in the lobby and ogling incoming patrons, however. Instead, I suggest popping in to the Elephant & Castle next door if ...

This is a pretty cool place – It’s right by the mag mile, and it’s designed to impress. There’s a real hang out vibe. I was pleasantly surprised by the Carlton Inn, with its dark green and red color scheme, fenced off patio, and fitness room. The guestrooms are fairly simple, standard, and clean. I thought the soap and lotion dispenser in the bathroom was odd, but I'm sure it's more environmentally friendly than the usual single use bottles. The motel offers both free ...

I was a little bit confused about how to get to this hotel from the outside since you have to walk down alongside the river quite a ways, but it's a lovely, scenic walk past the Merchandise Mart Hall of Fame and the Chicago River. This is a shabby hotel with a fantastic location. It's not pretty--the furniture in the lobby has seen brighter days, and the red walls and carpet in some rooms make them seem even tinier than they are--but it's fine enough for sleeping and showering if that's all you plan to do in your room. The price is right, certainly. There's ...

I love the retro feel of this motel. It looks a little out of place on a Chicago street corner, especially in a neighborhood like River North, but I think it's a gem. The rooms are small but clean, and the staff is super friendly. I would definitely recommend this to students and other low-maintenance types (no concierge service here, ...

There's a restaurant and a Starbucks on site, so you've really got all you ...

Chicago Hotel Insider
Each year, about 30 million visitors head to Chicago to explore the Midwest’s most vibrant, bustling metropolis, ready to explore its urban parks, world-class museums, great spectator sports, cutting edge theater, and, of course, stunning Lake Michigan. An added perk is the diversity of the city’s neighborhoods, where you can explore everything from stately Victorian mansions to revitalized warehouses that now host some of the city’s coolest restaurants and nightclubs. It’s no surprise that Chicago was rated one of the top destinations in the U.S. by Gogobot users.

Luxury Hotels in Chicago
Many major hotels are concentrated in the Loop, close to Chi-Town’s most popular attractions including Millennium Park, the Navy Pier, the Willis Center, and the Magnificent Mile. The Drake Hotel Chicago, located on the Magnificent Mile, has long played host to visiting royalty and other celebrities. Another iconic Windy City hotel is the Palmer House, situated in the Loop and dating back to the 1870s. Another notable establishment is the Congress Plaza Hotel on Michigan Ave., known for its historic past and stunning architecture. There’s also the much lauded ACME Hotel Company with its minimalist furnishings, wacky artwork, and attentive staff. Or try the James Hotel Chicago for a little bit of pet-friendly flair. Most of the city’s notable hotels offer excellent amenities, ranging from fitness rooms, free continental breakfast, and indoor pools to indulgent spas that pamper guests with a huge menu of treatments. Chicago is a foodie’s dream, with culinary offerings that go well beyond the iconic deep dish pizza. Many of the city’s hotels also boast excellent restaurants, like the trendy NoMI Kitchen at the Park Hyatt or the iconic Palm Court at the Drake, where the afternoon tea is rumored to rival the British.

Hotels by Neighborhood
Regardless of the time of year of your visit, there’s plenty to see and do in Chicago. The city’s lovely Millennium Park is one of the newer attractions, situated in the Loop area of the city. It opened in 2004 and includes pavilions and amphitheaters for concerts, and is close to many hotels, including the Westin Michigan Avenue and Hilton Chicago. The Shedd Aquarium is a perfect place to bring the kiddos, and the Art Institute of Chicago is packed with iconic paintings. If it’s a great view you are after, try the W Hotel Chicago, which overlooks Lake Michigan and is only steps away from Navy Pier. Another lodging with views of the lake is the Essex Inn Chicago, located within easy walking distance of many of the city’s best attractions.
