What can I say about Rick Bayless that hasn't been said? Just go, for crying out loud. Stand in the line and don't complain about it, because you're going to get amazing food at a reasonable price.

    Avec Restaurant & Wine Bar

    615 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60661
    11 reviews

Amazing food. Simply incredible flavors and presentation. No reservations so get there early, be prepared to wait, and sit at a communal place with strangers because this place is small. As off-putting as that sounds, it is all worth it. Plates come to share, in tapas style large or small portions. Everyone raves about the chorizo dates - which I ...

    Billy Goat Tavern & Grill

    430 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611

Under The Mag Mile and full of Chicago history, it's all about the ambiance and the story of the Curse of the Billy Goat. Don't ask for lettuce, Pepsi or fries.

    626 N State St, Chicago, IL 60610
    13 reviews

Great spot for low-key lounging with friends or on a date. Located in the heart of River North, if you can snag a patio table, you'll be in people-watching heaven. Can't go wring with a pizza and house wine.

    Kuma's Corner

2900 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL 60618-5804

Loud music, beer and insane burgers. I always chatted up the hostess, who was really nice and lent me a lighter. Know the busy nights of the week - otherwise wait shoulder to shoulder with other hungry people.

    Bongo Room

    1470 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
    12 reviews

My absolute favorite brunch spot, how can you say no to white choc caramel pretzel pancakes? My actual favorite menu item is the BLT benedict (which is way classier than it sounds) and a pancake on the side (yes they let you do this, it's off the menu ordering). You're welcome.

    Yolk Streeterville

355 East Ohio Street, Chicago, IL 60611
    10 reviews

If breakfast were an art form, Yolk would take it to the level of Athenian architecture or italian Renaissance painting.

    Gilt Bar

230 W Kinzie St, Chicago, IL
    12 reviews

So delicious! Bone marrow was huge and very rich. The pastas are so fresh! The gnocchi was light and satisfying, fluffy like pillows! For dessert, we got the apple brown butter cake with salted caramel vanilla ice cream. This dessert is fit for royalty. It's pretty big so I'd advise sharing. Overall, trendy ambience backed by quality food and drinks.

    Twin Anchors Restaurant & Tavern

    1655 N Sedgwick St, Chicago, IL 60614
    7 reviews

This isn't the kind of place you'd find when you're just wandering around. If you're lucky, a friend would tip you off. Get off the Brown Line at Sedgeweick, walk north to Eugene, and sit in the first booth to the left in the back room. Sinatra's personal phone box is still there. Try the Prohibition Sauce.

    Cafe Iberico

    739 N Lasalle St, Chicago, IL 60610
    10 reviews

Women, especially seem to love Cafe Iberico. The food is very affordable and family-style sharing is encouraged. There's always a healthy crowd, and since they don't take reservations, that often equates to waiting... and waiting. To me, it's just okay. The food is tasty but it's hard to find any vegetables on the menu and so I always leave feeling ...

For a funky, hip vibe, head over to this Logan Square cafe, where the walls are covered in beautiful - and often quirky - work from local and national artists. And the food is amazing to boot.

    Sprinkles Cupcakes Chicago

50 East Walton Street Chicago, IL 60611
    8 reviews

The cupcake ATM wouldn't matter if the cupcakes couldn't back up the novelty- but they do. My favorite is the red velvet though I've not been disappointed with any variety I've tasted. The ambiance of the pink store and friendly staff make the (sometimes) long lines go quickly.

    Molly's Cupcakes

2536 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL

Great variety of cupcakes every time. The cupcakes are moist and not overwhelmingly sweet. A wonderful place to hangout with multiple seating areas and games to play. The sprinkles bar is a big plus.

    Pequod's Pizzeria

    2207 N Clybourn Ave, Chicago, IL 60614

This is some really yummy deep dish. The caramelized cheese on the edges of the crust is a nice touch. The crust is thick and the toppings are plentiful.

    DMK Burger Bar

2954 North Sheffield Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657
    8 reviews

This place is slightly expensive, but they're good. Their burgers are the perfect portion, and there will probably be no leftovers. I love their fries, they have some awesome truffle fries!! This place gets crowded later at night, but we went at 6, and were able to get a table with no issues. The service was great.
