    Lou Malnati's Pizzeria

    4.5
    52 reviews

If you come to Chicago you HAVE to eat some Lou Malnati's. The sauce is excellent. Bring your appetite. Deep Dish Only in my opinion. They also have carry out and ordering online to have a dry ice frozen pizza shipped to you, at a pretty penny.

    Rock N Roll McDonald's

    4
    9 reviews

Couldn't say no to visiting McDonalds in Chicago. It's one of the biggest one I've been in (and they have an escalator). Why this one is special: - Convenient location after a bar outing - it's 24hours - The furnitures are clean and modern - Plenty of space to lounge around - The second floor is covered in history of ...

    Giordano's Pizza

    4.5
    27 reviews

I grew up in Chicago eating deep-dish pizza. I've tried every major pizza maker's goods in town, and Giordano's is always in my top two. The Rush St. location is my favorite, with graffitied booths, tables and walls. Just be prepared for the 45-minute wait for your pizza to be baked and delivered to your table.

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria - Gold Coast

    4.5
    4 reviews

Even though we ended up not being fans of the Chicago style deep dish pizza- THIS pizzeria was amazing. The ingredients were very fresh. The atmosphere and decor was spot on and the staff were very helpful to us tourists. The night we went there was a two hour wait. So I highly recommend that you don't go after a ...

    Portillo's

    4.5
    41 reviews

Can't beat a Chicago hot dog. I somehow did not miss ketchup. The pickle and condiments are key to getting the crunch and freshness! The atmosphere is chaotic and fun; I felt like I was at a theme park:)

    Manny's Cafeteria & Delicatessen

    4.5
    9 reviews

Jane and Michael Stern's road food brought me here and way before Manny's developed a certain political cache. I love old school places, especially when a founding family member once said: "I know what the people around here want, and I'm the only one left who can do it." Same as it Ever Was. And dripping with Attitude and Yiddishkeit. ...

    Garrett Popcorn

    4
    40 reviews

A Chicago institution. Great popcorn. Just don't look at the nutritional info. I like a mix of caramel and cheese. Even if you don't buy or don't want to wait in line, enjoy the smell as you stroll by.

    Lou Mitchell's Restaurant & Bakery

Lou Mitchell's was started in 1923 and I first came here in 1993 after I picked up the book Road Food. My ex-wife and I came in mid-week (with no line) and were charmed by the old Chicago ambiance, the good and plentiful food, and of course a choice of donut holes or milk duds. In fact, I still have ...

The time I was there they were hosting a book signing. I appreciate businesses who go the extra mile to stand out from their competitors. From book signings to their infamous cupcake ATM- Sprinkles Cupcakes does it right and everything is made fresh daily.

    Margie's Candies

    4.5
    4 reviews

Margie's is a must see. This slice of Chicago history is still standing since the 1930's and it's a tasty destination for all ages. Chicago school kids can come in during report card week and show an A for a free ice cream cone. A "C" improved to an "A" earns a Jr. Sundae!! They also give sweet, free goodie ...

    Gino's East of Chicago

    4.5
    25 reviews

You can argue until you're blue in the face and all the ice on Lake Michigan melts about which joint serves the truest and most authentic deep-dish Chicago-style pizza. Born and raised in Chicago, Gino's East is the place I keep coming back to. Pizzeria Uno and Due may have the tourist cachet, and Lou Malnati's and Paisano's are definitely ...

    Wishbone

    4.5
    6 reviews

Just about every time I'm in town, I end up eating at Wishbone. I'm getting hungry just thinking about the place. They serve up what they call, "Southern Reconstruction Cooking," but what most folks just call "darned good" southern-style comfort food. Try the corn cakes, and anything jambalaya. And I love the snarling poodle logo.

    Giordano's Pizzeria on Rush

    4
    37 reviews

I'm from Chicago, but since I live in California now, deep-dish pizza is what I really crave when I go home. Honestly, after thin-crust exile on the West Coast, I'll take anything -- Eduardo's, Gino's East, give me whatever stuffed pies you've got. But when I bring out-of-towners downtown for sightseeing, we usually end up for lunch here at this ...
